    Vancouver Case Pavilion

The Vancouver Pavilion is an innovative structure that shows the versatility of wood by combining conventional linear elements with unexpected spherical elements. The Pavilion is designed with green building materials. The exposed wood structure contains exhibits that will encourage visitors to explore the advantages of building with wood.

The Vancouver Pavilion introduces the communities, the people and the ideas that earned Vancouver the reputation as the most livable city. Vancouver, like Shanghai, transformed industrial land into beautiful modern neighbourhoods between hosting Expo in 1986 and the Winter Olympics in 2010. The name “Urban Sanctuary” reflects the way the city enjoys nature and is aware of its impact on nature.

‘Hybrid Multi-Family’: Our Canadian architect Jan Benda created the linear section in the form of a Vancouver style wood/concrete hybrid building to demonstrate wood’s superior thermal insulation and excellent seismic stability. Modern wood design, common in Vancouver, is now an option in China where urban planners are seeking renewable materials to create buildings that are seismically safe, comfortable and energy efficient.
