Alexandria Case Pavilion

Theme: “Alexandria’s City Development Strategy”

Alexandria is located on the west of Nile delta, facing the Mediterranean, and is the most important port of Egypt, the second largest city and capital of Alexandria province. The case “Alexandria’s development strategy” mainly focuses on how it manages local assets using donation with competence, break through private enterprises’ bottleneck, and ensures the social economic development model implements in poverty stricken areas.

1. Alexandria local economic assessment: only 31% of the effective employed population is employed. The competitive policy implementation report helps 4 more people to enter the labor market every year.

2. Researches on the residential area besides water, and makes city upgrading strategy: in the 30 water-side residential areas in Alexandria, there are 1,360,000 residents involved, among which 20 areas are assessed and brought to agenda. The transformation project has been implemented and supported by social development fund.
