Guizhou Pavilion
Guizhou Pavilion
The pavilion’s grand and magnificent appearance is a combination of unique visual elements of Guizhou, such as wind and rain bridge and drum tower. The architectural shape boldly exaggerates the form of ethnic minorities’ silver head decorations, displaying special folk characteristics. The pavilion shows the intoxicating beauty of local ecological environment and folk customs and the blueprint of a network city featuring harmony between man and nature.
Guizhou Province of China is the land of Karst landscapes and where the Huangguoshu Waterfall, the greatest in China, roars. This is also the homeland of world-famous Kweichow Moutai – known as China’s National Alcohol. In Guizhou Province, a magic land, 49 of China’s 56 ethnic minorities live together in harmony. The 600-square-meter Guizhou Pavilion in the China Pavilion at Expo 2010 will unveil the irresistible allure of the Guizhou Province using the image of a “well-dressed Miao girl” and the theme of the “Charm of the Summer Resort”.
With an area of 600 square meters, Guizhou Pavilion consists of three areas, “ecology homeland”, “spiritual homeland” and “dream homeland”, and the three areas will respectively show magic and mysterious natural beauty in Guizhou, rich cultural landscape, as well as the transport infrastructure of modern Guizhou. The design concept of Guizhou Pavilion is “back to nature and better life”. And the pavilion looks like a girl in beautiful dress from minority nationality. A strong visual impact and multi-cultural characteristics will leave a deep impression on the visitors on the first time. The architectural form of Guizhou Pavilion is inspired by ethnic minority girl’s silver headdress and makes a bold exaggeration. This form fully demonstrates the national character of Guizhou province and sincere, quiet, generous but simple mental state of Guizhou people.
During the Expo, visitors will not only enjoy a variety of folk performances every day, but also have the opportunities to be invited to sing and dance along with the performers. They will experience the unique charm of minority songs and dances. There are about 300 actors performing in Guizhou Pavilion and they only are ordinary citizens rather than professional actors. So, visitors will experience the original national life culture in Guizhou.
