    Shanghai Pavilion

Taking the form of Shikumen, Shanghai Pavilion features simple design but profound implication, plain appearance but modern taste, perfectly matching the city’s characteristics of combination of decency and diversity, blending of history and modernism, and meeting of the East and the West. Themed as “New Horizons Forever,” it demonstrates a more charming, harmonious and intelligent Shanghai through the external walls, waiting room and interior space.

With actors attired in palace garb and Olympic sportswear, Beijing will hold a dress parade around the Beijing Pavilion Expo site during the Beijing Week, from May 4 to 8. Charming Beijing will be represented by dramatic changes instead of single and static forms. Around 200 actors will dress in different styles of clothes that can be seen at 16 famous venues of the city, including the Forbidden City and the Beijing National Stadium, or Bird’s Nest and Water Cube. An opening ceremony for the Beijing Week in front of the joint provincial pavilion on the morning of May 4 will be “as exciting as the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. During that week, Beijing craftsmen will perform folk arts, including paper-cutting and clay sculpture, around the Expo site. Meanwhile, people will appreciate the film named “Charming Capital” by director Zhang Yimou, introducing Beijing’s attractions and showing the competitive strength of Beijing.
